Dental Hygienist

Dental hygienists play a vital role in maintaining your oral health. They are skilled at removing plaque and tartar, performing professional cleanings, and addressing specific hygiene needs, such as for bridges, dentures, orthodontic treatments, or dental implants. Hygienists also educate patients on how to sustain good oral hygiene practices.

To ensure the best possible oral health, it’s essential to complement regular dental visits with an effective at-home routine. Brush your teeth at least twice daily, with special attention before bedtime, for a minimum of two minutes. Don’t forget to clean between your teeth using floss, tape, or interdental brushes. Rinsing with mouthwash can help remove plaque and leave your mouth feeling fresh.

At our Queens Drive Dental Surgery, all our Private Hygiene appointments include a full scale and polish as standard, using the very latest EMS air-flow technology to remove bio-film and stain to give all our patients that perfect ‘clean’ feeling.

By combining these efforts, you can maintain optimal oral health.

GBT – Guided Biofilm Therapy

We are moving away from traditional methods of scaling and polishing teeth as a treatment for gum disease over to the much more effective and minimally invasive therapy which is now the gold standard.

We offer Guided Biofilm Therapy, a treatment protocol devised and used by leading gum specialists throughout the world. Guided Biofilm Therapy now better treats gum disease by targeting disease causing bacteria by using a dye to identify it then a warm water flushing system called ‘Airflow’ with a bactericidal powder to remove and kill the plaque biofilm in your mouth and prolongs the time it takes to grow back.

The airflow system also easily and gently removes unsightly stains that may be caused by tea, coffee, smoking and dietary factors leaving your teeth looking whiter, polished and feeling super smooth.

The ultrasonic scaler that the system uses is incredibly gentle and effortlessly removes tartar from your teeth without sensitivity. The whole system has been designed for comfort and uses warm water to prevent tooth sensitivity.

You’ll find it comfortable, efficient and will see the results for yourself! We apply a special strengthening cream to your enamel at the end of your treatment that applies essential nutrients to you tooth surface to keep it in optimal health.
